panic on the bridge
blood in the water
there was nowhere for him to go but down
take me to a river in the mountains
i need to see them once before i go away
my heart is a plastic bag burning in the ocean
ooh something big just hit the boat
welcome home
we’re so glad you made it down
crawl over his body drink his blood
stay with us rot with us
another evening with the lights from the harbor
screaming their way down the deep blue
sorry we couldn’t leave you if we tried
that’s just how things work down here
now water coming in
and blood rushing out
if it had to happen it’d have been nice not to have been alone
there’s water in my eyes
metal in the ground
that’s not supposed to be there but what the hell do i know
The North Atlantic right whale (Eubalaena glacialis) is a species of baleen whale, one of the largest in existence. The largest population feeds off the coast of New England and Newfoundland, and migrates south to Florida and Georgia to calve.
Their numbers were decimated in the 19th century due to whaling. Though whaling no longer occurs, human activity still poses a threat to their existence in the form of boat strikes, entanglements, and climate change. There are estimated to be less than 350 individuals remaining in the wild. If action is not taken, they will be the first whale species to be made extinct because of human activity.
