wake up there's sand in your eyes again small one
scratch the itch there's the spot lie back and fall asleep again
blink at the bright streaks of spit in the distance
wake up it's dusk in your eyes again small one
gather up those fragile bones stumble into night again
child I breathe nothing but love for you but we must go
untangle our veins sewn together
drift through tides of time forever
you will sleep beside me in the future
The addax (addax nasomaculatus) is a species of antelope native to the Sahara Desert. They are nocturnal, burrowing into shady patches of sand during the day to avoid heat and sandstorms. Their society is highly structured, their herds led by the oldest female.
Addaxes are docile and slow, qualities that leave them vulnerable to predation. They were once abundant across most of North Africa; now, hunting, habitat destruction, and chronic droughts have pushed them to the brink of extinction. Fewer than 500 individuals exist in the wild.
